ABOUT:
Coalition of Altruism (CoA) is a Non- Profit 501c3 Charity Foundation, est. September 2022. CoA is for the enrichment, and betterment of those who are in need in the State of New Jersey to abroad. Our focus for our charity initiatives are to improve children, seniors, and the unfortunate lives through charitable donations in service, needed resources, or monetary donations. We promote mental health, children literacy, and humanitarian relief. Our support through our Church initiative is to attend a Sunday service with like faithful believers in such religion together, and collectively give a monetary offering because Churches are truly for the unfortunate. In our local business support initiative, we collectively support one local business through paying for services or products.
Founded by:
President & CEO- Johnathan Frazer
Vice President- Kemonte Howard
Director- Scott Abalard
Treasure- Eugene Mitchell
Secretary- Ernest Rodgers
Founding Member- Linwood Bagby
The purpose of CoA is for men in business and community leaders to gather for four objectives:
1. Church support
2. Community/Charity
3. Support Local Businesses
4. Social/Promoting Mental Health
CoA has monthly meetings to determine how the foundation will accomplish the four objectives listed above. Each CoA member takes a month. Each member can be responsible for more than one month during the calendar year.
CoA plays several roles for its founder, members, and the communities it serves. CoA is a tangible vehicle for its founder and members to connect socially with one another and to give back to their communities. It shows African American male leadership in action. CoA is showing leadership and models positivity in the Black community.
Organization Structure- CoA consist of Black Men who are business owners and community leaders. Each Executive Board Member is required to commit to monthly meetings via zoom, and do four projects with all the members each month. Non Executive Board Members (Members) are not required to attend each meeting, its at the members leisure to attend Zoom meetings or month CoA initiatives. Members also has the opportunity to take a leadership month with 4 CoA initiatives when available.
Membership- CoA membership at the moment is male only, Black male encouraged, LGBTQ friendly, and all religions are accepted.
Membership Dues- there’s a minimal annual membership dues which is allocated to the budget of our charitable outreach program.
Responsibilities and expectations for board members- are to uphold their duties as described in the responsibilities of their respective positions. Additionally, even though CoA is a full volunteer organization as board Executive Board Members it is encouraged support and be dedicated to CoA’s 4 initiatives each month.
As CoA Members- your responsibility is to support CoA initiatives at your leisure.
Program and Operating costs to run the organization- our operation cost have been solely through the donations of Memebers of CoA. In the upcoming year we will be pushing to build a strong donor base to contribute to the constant outreach that CoA has established in the past year.
CoA is a full volunteer organization- No one is paid for the program, or the administrative arms of CoA. Therefore the cost to do projects and maintain CoA is minimal. The positive is that much is happening with few dollars.
The negative is that funding each project is on the burden of each member. If a project is perceived as costing too much. One of the business owners foot the bill, or covers the balance.
Goals- to build A yearly budget that has funds devoted to each
monthly charity event. And that budget is presented each year to the board for approval before any charity event happens.
– CoA has one year of activities, and costs for community and charity work. It is a working budget that can be adjusted with board approval. This way the person leading their month, and CoA members know what the costs may be.
The monthly leader does not have to spend any money on their charity, but if there are expenses he will know the financial limits established and approved by the board.
– CoA Socials remain the responsibility of each member.
In conclusion, CoA has lots of potential to be a vital organization in the lives of communities, and charities in New Jersey, and the local areas. The four objectives are the heart of CoA. At present CoA is a solid community of a few good African American Men who are doing good in their communities. With strong partnerships, and donations to a start-up Non-profit organization. We can truly provide additional positive impact in our communities.
